Ukrainian invention: antibiotic “Batumin”

Without Ukrainians, the world would not have many inventions. In particular, the helicopter, liquid scalpel, X-ray, plaster cast, etc. We invite you to recall or learn about these incredible things that humanity uses.

In 2005, scientists from the Institute of Microbiology and Virology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine created a new antibiotic, “Batumin”, which is used to treat staphylococcal infection. This product has no analogues in the world in terms of its chemical composition.

The research lasted 30 years. “Batumin” was patented in 2013. After successful completion of the development, the product was sold to Belgium, where mass production was launched. The product is available in the form of an ointment.
