We have gathered some examples of Western celebrities supporting Putin’s regime and his violations of international law. Typically, this kind of support comes in hopes of obtaining Russian citizenship, which in turn can provide them with economic benefits (like avoiding increased taxes some states impose on their richest citizens) or new frontiers, free of “Hollywood’s PC culture”, to promote their fading careers. On the other hand, such moves allow Kremlin to claim Russia triumph over “decaying West”, even though none of these celebrities actually choose Russia for a higher standard of living or better technological advancement. However, some of the listed personalities go further in their desire to show appreciation for Putin: actor Steven Seagal joined a newly created “For the truth” spoiler party and MMA fighter Jeff Monson won local elections in Krasnodarsky region.
