Askania-Nova reserve continues to be looted

Russians are exporting animals to Crimea and Russia from the Askania-Nova reserve in Kherson region. This was reported by the head of the Kherson Regional Animal Protection Agency, Oleksandr Prokudin.
‘The last I heard, they were taking animals to Crimea and Russia,’ he said.

On 24 March 2022, Russians took control of the F.E. Falz-Fein Biosphere Reserve of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, Askania-Nova. The reserve’s zoo housed about 3,500 species of animals. In addition, there are more than 2,500 species of flora and about 2,300 species of fauna on its territory. Some of them are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine.
