Ukrainian troops confirm Russian advances in Toretsk
Russian forces have advanced in the city of Toretsk in Donetsk region. They are erasing entire neighborhoods with artillery, spokesperson for the Luhansk Operational Tactical Group, Major Anastasia Bobovnikova said in remarks on national television Tuesday.
“DeepState [a Ukrainian OSINT project] has updated the map today, showing that the enemy is advancing in Toretsk. Unfortunately, I have to admit that it is true. The enemy is destroying the city and erasing entire neighborhoods using artillery. Entire neighborhoods are erased from Toretsk,” Bobovnikova said.
Russia has recently decreased the number of assault operations toward the city of Chasiv Yar. Russian forces are taking heavy casualties there, she added.
DeepState said on Tuesday that Russia had advanced near Nevske, Vodyane, Zolota Nyva, Pryyutne and in Toretsk.
Russian missile strike on Mykolayiv kills one, injures 23 others
Russia’s attack on Mykolaiv overnight on Tuesday killed one person and injured 23 others, the head of the regional military administration Vitaliy Kim said. Ukrainian military said the Russian forces used seven S-300/400 missiles to strike the region. The attack damaged an infrastructure facility, a restaurant complex, trade pavilions, residential buildings and cars, and caused several fires.

Russia prepares to resume major missile strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure after the winter heating season starts, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Lytvynenko said in remarks at the opening of the 5E International Energy Business Forum in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Ukraine anticipates that “Russia will likely launch major attacks on its energy system after the start of the heating season,” Lytvynenko said.
He added that thanks to innovative solutions in the energy sector Russia has not been able to destroy Ukrainian economy.
On August 29, the then chief executive officer of Ukrenergo national energy operator, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said that Ukraine is much better prepared for the next winter in terms of the company’s transportation network than it was last year. A complete winter blackout is highly unlikely, Kudrytskyi said.
In September, Ukraine’s Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told a news conference that Ukraine could be facing its toughest winter since the full-scale Russian invasion began. Russian attacks this year have destroyed nine gigawatts of Ukraine’s generating capacity, an equivalent of what could cover the needs of four European states, the Ministry of Energy said.
This coming winter may prove to be a breaking point for Ukraine in the energy war as the Russians are aiming to hit the key substations feeding high voltage electricity to Ukraine’s nuclear power plants, according to Politico.
