Vladyslav Selezniov: “All terrorist attacks were beaten off at night”

Kyiv, May 22, 2014 – Vladyslav Selezniov, the official representative of anti-terrorist operation reported on the course of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) during a phone briefing at the Ukraine crisis media center.

Mr. Selezniov informed that the acting President of Ukraine and the speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Olexander Turchynov had visited one of the anti-terrorist operation bases the day before. A number of issues concerning the course of the anti-terrorist operation were discussed during the ATO leaders’ meeting held there. The acting Minister of Internal Affairs Arseniy Avakov and the commander of the National Guard Stepan Poltorak took part in it either.

The ATO official representative also informed that the post of Ukrainian soldiers nearby Slovyansk had been under fire twice at night. Terrorists used small-arms weapons, rifles and mortar-guns. Ukrainian troops fired back and the attack was beaten off.
Speaking on the fights between the ATO forces and militants in Volnovakha, Donetsk region, Mr. Seleznyov mentioned that the number of dead and wounded Ukrainian soldiers would be specified and reported.

He also added that there were injured soldiers as a result of attack of the column, which were in the process of redeployment and didn’t take any active actions: “Yesterday I informed that redeployment of Ukrainian forces actively engaged in ATO operation was in process. Those divisions that served the ATO are now getting back to the points of permanent dislocation, and the new divisions are arriving”. Mr. Selezniov also said that the column which moved nearby Rubizhne, Lugansk region, had been ambushed. Terrorists opened fire to defeat at the Ukrainian soldiers.
