Ministry of Defense: Three years of ATO result in 2652 Ukrainian servicemen killed and 9578 wounded

During three years of ATO 2652 soldiers and officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard of Ukraine, Ministry of Interior, Security Service of Ukraine, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and other military and law enforcement formations have been killed in action, 9578 more servicemen have been wounded, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Andriy Lysenko during a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Yesterday Ukrainian Armed Forces incurred no losses, yet two troops were wounded.

Militants conducted the largest number of attacks, namely 43, in Mariupol sector. Six of theses involved heavy weapons. Russian proxies fired a total of 50 artillery rounds here. In addition, the used armored vehicles in 6 episodes. The situation escalated in the south, as militants brought heavy armaments to the frontline again and started actively using it. Enemy mortar attacks took place in Talakivka, Hnutove and Shyrokyne, in Vodiane other artillery were used besides mortars. “The situation was relatively calm in Maryinka district and northern part of Volnovakha district. Only sporadic hostile provocations were registered there, enemy snipers in particular,” informed the spokesman.

In Luhansk sector Russia-backed militants attacked Ukrainian positions once in Stanytsia Luhanska and twice in Popasna district between 14:00 and 20:00. No heavy weapons were used.

In Donetsk sector, main hostilities occurred in Kamianka – Donetsk airport frontline yesterday. Militants were actively using mortars, especially in Avdiivka and Opytne, firing at Ukrainian positions about 50 mortar rounds. “Two largest hostile attacks took place between 7:00 and 9:00 and between 14:00 and 22:00,” said Col. Lysenko. Russian proxies conducted three attacks, including one mortar shelling, at Svitlodarsk area. Moreover, they attacked Zaitseve. “In total, ceasefire violations took place in Donetsk sector yesterday, and five of them involved heavy weapons,” said the spokesman.
