Kyiv, 17 December 2014 – The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine works to implement the system of comprehensive military training for the population based on the Swiss model of permanent planned training of reservists. It was reported by Viktoria Kushnir, spokeswoman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine at a briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “At the moment regular training of territorial reserve is already being conducted in many districts of Ukraine on the voluntary non-paid basis supported by patriotic civil society organizations. As of today around 2000 people have signed enlistment contracts for service in the military reserve of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” added the Defense Ministry spokeswoman.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine received humanitarian aid cargo from the UK. The UK colleagues delivered winter gear and medical equipment to Ukrainian servicemen. In 2014 partner countries have provided the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the following items: the US supplied military gear and technical equipment, France – body armour and medical equipment, Slovakia – power generators, lighting systems, military gear and medicine, Norway – field rations, Denmark – technical equipment, the UK – body armour, helmets and first aid kits, Canada – personal protective equipment and winter gear, Poland – field rations and army bed rolls, Latvia – school kits and other necessary items for children of servicemen who resettled from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Lithuania – field rations, medical materials and military gear, Switzerland – medicine and medical materials, the Netherlands – power generators and winter boots, Spain – body armour and helmets.
