Over last day Ukrainian troops incurred no casualties, none wounded in action – Colonel Motuzyanyk

Kyiv, September 22, 2015. Over the last day Ukrainian troops did not incur any casualties, there were no wounded in action. Three ceasefire violation episodes conducted by militant groups were registered yesterday in the evening, said Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk, Spokesman of Administration of the President of Ukraine on ATO-related issues at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “Militants opened fire near Zolote, Luhansk region, and on the outskirts of Horlivka, Mayorsk and Kirove. Militants fired exactly to provoke and force our troops to return fire. Adversary was not using heavy weapons,” explained Colonel Motuzyanyk. Flight of a militant UAV was registered near Tryokhizbenka, Luhansk region on September 21.

ATO spokesman also reported that Ukraine’s Security Service detained a Russian citizen at the Ukrainian-Russian border suspected in cooperation with militants. “The native of Yakutiya (Russian Federation) came to Donetsk last April, militants detained him while he was driving drunk. To shorten the sentence he enlisted in a militant group and was standing guard at hostile blockposts in Yasynuvata,” noted Colonel Motuzyanyk.

Ukrainian troops detained another militant in Kramatorsk, he arrived from nearby Oleksandrivsky district in spring 2014 in order to enlist in the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic” militant group. “Militant informer was detained near Volnovakha. He was transmitting information to the coordinator of a militant network on movement of personnel and equipment, places of deployment, number of troops and weapons in service at the Ukrainian Armed Forces,” added ATO spokesman.

According to Colonel Motuzyanyk Ukraine’s Security Service neutralized a subversive group established by the so-called “Luhansk Pepople’s Republic” militants in Dnipropetrovsk that was preparing to blast Kaydatsky bridge across the Dnipro river. “Two perpetrators were caught red-handed, six grenades were seized from them. Two militant group members were detained later. The detained confessed they were also involved in the grenade explosion in the yard of a military enlistment office in Dnipropetrovsk on September 12. They were also collecting information on deployment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and passing it to the enemy,” elaborated ATO spokesman.
