Kyiv, 17 June 2014 – “Today, our volunteers are helping the soldiers of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) at military and civilian hospitals in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, Vinnytsya and Irpin,” said Natalya Voronkova, coordinator of the Volunteer SOTNYA public initiative. “We would like to thank the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and all hospitals for granting us the opportunity to help ATO soldiers,” she added.

According to Ms. Voronkova, the volunteers provide medical aid and psychological support to the injured ATO participants, and also buy and deliver drugs, wheelchairs, crutches and other necessary items.

At the same time, Dana Yarova, an activist of the Volunteer SOTNYA initiative, noted that today there is a number of issues that cannot be resolved without government-backed support. “First and foremost, these (the issues) include restoring the personal documents of the injured servicemen, implementation of the effective mechanism to ensure timely payment of insurance claims to the injured ATO soldiers, providing them with financial support for treatment and rehabilitation, and temporary suspension of loan payments for the families of the injured or partial or complete repayment of such loans at the government costs,” she said.

Activists of the Volunteer SOTNYA call everyone to join their initiative. For information providing their bank details and urgent needs please visit Facebook page “Волонтерская Сотня” (in Russian) or call + 38 050 633 31 95.
