Colonel Lysenko: Militants fire from 82-mm and 120-mm mortars more than 20 times in Donetsk sector

Compraing to the day before, the number of ceasefire violations decrease, militants use small weapons. Ukrainian side suffers two wounded and no casualties. Intelligence spots rotation on the enemy’s side. 

Kyiv, May 13, 2016. Militants continue using 82-mm and 120-mm mortars. In Donetsk sector they released over 20 mortar shells. This was stated by Colonel Andriy Lysenko, Presidential Administration spokesperson on ATO related issues, at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “In Donetsk sector the enemy shelled twice in Avdiivka industrial zone. Both lasted almost 2 hours. The fire was conducted from Yasynuvata,” said Col. Lysenko.

In Luhansk sector militants violated ceasefire three times – in Krymske and Popasna areas. All provocations took place in the second half of the day. “Once the invaders used an infrantry fighting vehicle, added Col. Lysenko. In Mariupol sector the hottest place yesterday was Novotroitske where at nighttime militants carried out a series of mortar attacks. Another hostile provocation took place in Shyrokyne. “Overall, there were 5 enemy attacks, including 3 mortar ones over the past day in Mariupol sector,” noted Col. Lysenko.

The Ukrainian military suffered no casualties over the last day of hostilities. “Two servicemen of the Armed Forces who guarded the contact line were wounded in explosive device blast. The incident occurred in Horlivka agglomeration,” informed the spokesperson on ATO related issues.

The military intelligence reports on reinforcements and rotation of the advanced units of illegal armed groups. In particular, position hardening persists on the Siverskyi Donets bank opposite Stanytsya Luhanska as well as near Komsomolsk and Telmanovo, informed Andriy Lysenko Lysenko. “The mixed artillery unit moved to the area of responsibility of the so-called “6th separate motorized infantry regiment of the 2nd Army Corps” of the self proclaimed “Luhansk People’s Republic” (“LPR”). The unit of the 10th separate special purpose brigade of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation arrived in Luhansk from Krasnodar Krai. Its place of dislocation is Molkino, Krasnodar Krai. Sniper teams arrived in Dokuchaevsk and Bezimenne,” informed the Presidential Administration spokesperson on ATO related issues.
