Combat engagement takes place in the Luhansk sector. Most intense attacks stand in the Mariupol sector. Russian intelligence fails to recruit Ukrainian navy.

In the Luhansk sector a combat engagement took place near Novozvanivka. It lasted about 30 minutes, Ukrainian side incurred no casualties in it, reported Colonel Andriy Lysenko, spokesman of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine on ATO-related issues at a press-briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. For the rest of the day Russia-backed militants were violating ceasefire in Novooleksandrivka and Krymske. One of the attacks included the use of mortars. The adversary made a total of eight attacks in the sector, one of them was made from heavy weapons.
In the Donetsk sector combat actions yesterday took place at the Svitlodarsk salient and in Avdiivka’s industrial zone.
“Adversary used mortars twice. Some of the hostile attacks were traditionally long-lasting: over 2,5 hours,” said the spokesman. Combined Russian-militant troops made a total of five attacks in the Donetsk sector, two of them were made with the use of mortars.
According to Colonel Lysenko, in the Mariupol sector massive hostile attacks continue in the area close to the Sea of Azov. “Thus, over 40 mortar mines and several artillery shells were fired upon Ukrainian positions between Pavlopil and Shyrokyne yesterday. Most intense part of the attacks took place between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.,” noted Colonel Lysenko.
Spokesman of the Ministry of Defense said that yesterday militants fired upon the Maryinka control point across the contact line. As a result traffic through the control point was temporarily suspended. Russia-backed militants also violated ceasefire in Dokuchayevsk. It was quiet in Krasnohorivka yesterday. A total of 23 hostile attacks were registered in the Mariupol sector over the last day, nine of them were made from heavy weapons.

Ukrainian troops incurred no lethal casualties over the last day, five servicemen were wounded in action, reported Colonel Lysenko.

Ukraine’s Security Service prevented setup of intelligence network that the Russian Security Service was trying to establish among Ukrainian navy. “Russia made an attempt to recruit Ukrainian naval officers to get the information on combat capacities of Ukrainian military bases, mobilization data, combat orders as well as on details of cooperation between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and NATO. However overwhelming majority of marines immediately notified Ukraine’s Security Service on such recruitment attempts by Russia’s security and intelligence agencies,” said Colonel Lysenko. He also said that two former Ukrainian servicemen were sentenced to long terms in prison for violating loyalty to the state. Thirty similar criminal cases are currently open. Ukraine’s Security Service also registered the incidents of threats and pressure upon the family members of Ukrainian servicemen residing in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
