Russian artillery strike on Kherson region kills two

Russian forces shelled Kherson region on the afternoon on Tuesday, killing two. Head of the Kherson regional military administration Oleksandr Prokudin said on Telegram: “Russian forces killed a female resident of Tokarivka. [Russian] occupying forces have just conducted an [artillery] strike at a civilian settlement.”

The injuries that the woman sustained in the attack were incompatible with life, Prokudin said. According to the office of the prosecutor in Kherson region, a 72-year-old man was killed in a Russian artillery strike on the Daryivska hromada (community) in Kherson region at around 2p.m. local time.

Medics and police were on the site. The number of casualties is being updated. Private houses and outbuildings were damaged in the attack.

On Bakhmut axis, Russian losses are eight times higher than Ukrainian ones, Ukraine’s Defense Ministry says

Ukrainian losses on the Bakhmut axis are eight times fewer than Russian ones. On the Berdyansk and Mariupol axes, Ukrainian losses are 5.3 times fewer than Russian ones, Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar said on Telegram Tuesday.

Throughout the counteroffensive, Ukrainian troops have accomplished combat miracles that will enter into the history books, Malyar said.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to advance in the face of the enemy’s superiority in forces and means. Offensive forces usually take higher losses, she added.

Ukrainian troops continue to advance despite difficult conditions, Malyar said.

“We should not be taking about the kilometers recaptured, but about whether [the troops] advance or not. The fact that we advance in the face of the enemy’s superiority is a show of skillfulness and courage of our troops,” Malyar said.

Spokesperson for Ukraine’s defense forces on the Tavria direction, Valeriy Shershen, earlier said that on the Berdyansk axis, Ukrainian storm units had advanced 500 meters along the front line and 750 meters deep into the Russian positions.

Ukrainian troops have retaken up to 230 square kilometers since the counteroffensive began, of which 192 sq. km are in the south, and around 35 sq. km in the east, Malyar said on July 24.
