Ukraine has signed the Association Agreement with the EU

Ukraine has signed the Association Agreement and the Final Act with the EU. The document has been signed by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

The ceremony was held in the premises of the EU Council in Brussels at 10:00 am (local time).

On behalf of Ukraine, the ceremony was also attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin, First Assistant of the President Yuriy Onishchenko, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Valeriy Chaly and Representative of Ukraine to the EU Kostyantyn Yeliseyev.

Petro Poroshenko called the signature of the Association Agreement with the EU one of the most important days in the history of Ukraine. “It is one of the most important days since independence of Ukraine. We must use this opportunity to modernize the country but we need only one thing – peace and security,” the President told journalists before the ceremony.

“We hope that today, the EU will demonstrate the same solidarity as before,” the Head of State noted.
