Ministry of Defense: Militants shell Maryinka with mortars, wound one civilian and damage seven houses

Militants conducted three attacks in Maryinka in the evening using mortars (a total of six rounds fired) and sniper rifles. The attack wounded one civilian and damaged seven residential buildings, informed Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO issues Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk during press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “The civilian’s injuries are not life-threatening, he is in Kurakhove hospital now, to which he was admitted after first aid had been provided,” said Col. Motuzyanyk. Another small arms provocation took place in Taramchuk.

All other attacks in Mariupol sector took place in Hnutove–Lebedynske–Vodiane–Shyrokyne frontline. Militants mostly used light weapons, and employed mortars only in Shyrokyne. In total, Russian proxies violated the ceasefire 13 times in Mariupol sector, using heavy weapons twice.

In Donetsk sector militants conducted 28 ceasefire violations, using mortars four times. Shooting attacks continued virtually non-stop in Avdiivka’s industrial area, near Kamianka and at Shakhta Butovka positions. Russian proxies used mostly grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns, plus mortars in the evening. Militants’ sniper was recorded near Shakhta Butovka positions shooting for oven an hour at dawn. In the Donetsk airport, Russian proxies conducted one attack using grenade launchers near Pisky. Militants used small arms and APC weapons in Luhanske during the day, and launched nine 82-mm rounds in the evening. In the Horlivka perimeter attacked Ukrainian positions with light weapons in Zaitseve and Verkhniotoretske. The latter was attacked with mortars after 20:00.

In Luhansk sector, Russian proxies violated the ceasefire five times, using mortars once. In Stanytsia Luhanska area militants conducted two brief armed provocations near Valuiske village after midday. They also attacked Ukrainian positions in Stanytsia Luhanska with grenade launchers and small arms after the sunset. “In the Popasna district the enemy fired over 15 mortar rounds at our stronghold in Katerynivka, and also opened fire from machine gun,” added the spokesman.

One Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action and three more were wounded yesterday.
