Russia’s proxies made a total of 27 attacks on Ukrainian positions and used Minsk-proscribed weapons. Ukrainian troops returned fire 11 times, reported Colonel Andriy Lysenko, Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO, at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
In Luhansk sector, Russia-backed militants conducted 18 precision attacks. Militants shelled Luhanske, Lozove, and Triokhizbenka areas with 120mm mortars three times having fired a total of 32 rounds. The attack near Luhanske continued for about one hour. “The enemy was delivering precision fire against the Ukrainian positions in the areas of Zhovte, Zaitseve, Katerynivka, Luhanske, Novoluhanske, Novooleksandrivka, Svitlodarsk, Travneve, and Shchastia using IFV mounted weapons, grenade launchers of various types, heavy machine guns, and small arms,” Colonel Lysenko added. Moreover, Russian proxies twice used 82-mm mortars near Zaitseve and Triokhizbenka, and employed an anti-tank missile system near Orikhove. Ukrainian troops returned fire using grenade launchers, small arms, and IFV mounted weapons.
In Donetsk sector, Russia-backed militants violated the ceasefire nine times – near Avdiivka, Berezove, Verkhiotoretske, Vodiane, Hnutove, Krasnohorivka, and Shyrokyne. Ukrainian troops returned fire using weapons not proscribed under the Minsk agreements.
One Ukrainian serviceman was fatally wounded near Avdiivka as a result of a hostile an attack. Two more servicemen were wounded in action near Orikhove by the hostile antitank missile system, their lives are safe now.
