Ukrainian media digest 2-4 August 2014

Elena Blokha, editor-in-cheif of “Municipal Gazette”, official newspaper of Donetsk city council, was retained in Mariupol. She attempted to leave the territory of Ukraine for Crimea. Elena Blokha is an active prorussian separatists supporter and propagandist.

The situation with water supply in Donetsk region remains critical. According ot Donetsk region council press-service, dozens of settlements are short of water.

Lviv Regional Administration intends to introduce sanctions against companies with Russian shares, which are working in the region.

According to Alexey Svietikov, head of Lugansk Voters Committee of Ukraine, Lugansk Regional Administration moves from Svatovo to Sieverodonetsk.

“Azov” and “Shakhtarsk” battalions started to free Donetsk from terrorists.

Sergey Kravchenko, head of Lugansk Regional Administration, informed about inability to pay state salaries, pensions and absence of cash in the city. As the result of non-stop shelling the city is on the edge of humanitarian catastrophe.

Antracyt and Rovenky (Lugansk region) are short of food supplies. At the same time prorussian guerrillas are preventing the shop owners from procurement.

Andriy Sadovyy, Lviv city mayor, appealed to the government for setting the economy of Ukraine on military tracks. The economic regime should address “the requirements of war time”. In particular, three Lviv military plants (APCs and Tanks Manufacturing Plant, Aviation Repairing Plant, LORTA) are short of government defense procurement tenders. Sadovyy claims that “army rebiulding is a task for the nation”.

So called prime-minister of self proclaimed DPR (Donetsk People Republic) has returned to Donetsk and intends to held a press-conference. RIA Novosti informed about this issue referring to terrorist press-service. “Today on 13.00 the press-conference will be held”, – stated on the press-release. Mr. Borodai will update journalists on terrorists’ plans.

General prosecutor office of Russia provided Interpol with documents for international search of Ukrainian businessman Igor Kolomoyskiy, head of Dnipropetrovsk regional administration. This was announced by Yuriy Chayka, general prosecutor of Russia. “Today we provided Interpol with authorization for search of Igor Kolomoyskiy as well as authorization for arrest and transfer in case of reteinment on the territory of Interpol countries”.

ATO (anti-terror operation) Command in Donetsk and Lugansk region issued a statement, in which they informed that humanitarian corridors for evacuation of Donetsk, Lugansk and Gorlivka civilians are in action. “According to the norms of International humanitarian law (the martial law), provisioned for dwellers of settlements under martial circumstances, civilians are provided with humanitarian corridor for exodus to safe region. Information about the corridor is transferred to the dwellers, fighting parties agree on the routes, time for cease fire, route markings in order to provide safe exodus from the operations zone”, – stated in the ATO Command press-release.

Kharkiv Tank and APC Manufacturing Plant was shelled by flame thrower. According to UNIAN and army prosecutor office, a cartridge with flame thrower shells was found on the spot. Currently, there is no information about the type of the flame thrower, which being used. Police, SBU and army investigators moved to the crime scene.
