Kyiv, August 11, 2014 – “In the last 24 hours ATO regiments actively advanced in four directions simultaneously: Donetsk, Luhansk, Alchevsk-Stakhanov, Torez-Snizhne. The mercenaries suffered great loss of manpower and equipment. Panic spreads among Russian mercenaries, some of them resort to desertion, others are disoriented, disappointed and have no uniform strategy for further combat. Terrorists suffered the biggest losses near Ilovaysk, in its suburbs, in the village of Zelena in Donetsk oblast. ATO troops also blocked a significant number of mercenaries and military equipment in Krasniy Luch, Antratsyt district of Luhansk oblast,” stated NSDC Information center spokesman colonel Andriy Lysenko during a briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
ATO troops are still under fire from the Russian Federation, and Russian mercenaries continue their attempts to illegally infiltrate Ukrainian territory under fire. Yesterday Russians opened fire from artillery equipment and mine launchers from the village of Manotskiy (Russian Federation) at our border regiments in “Stanychno-Luhanske” district. “Tonight, “Uspenka” checkpoint in Donetsk oblast was under attack from three directions simultaneously, including that from Russian territory. This is yet another piece of evidence that aggression is coordinated by the Russian Federation. Also in the last 24 hours, the Russians opened fire at border servicemen near checkpoints “Krasna Talivka,” “Milove” and “Ivanivka,” reported the NSDC spokesman.
Terrorists continue ignoring all international norms and rules of warfare. When conducting evacuation of one of the wounded from roadblocks, a medical vehicle was subject to mine launcher fire on part of the bandits, and was destroyed.
Russian unmanned aircrafts continue violating the Ukrainian airspace in Kherson oblast from the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. Their biggest activity is observed near the village of Komisarivka and other localities in Henichenskiy district located on Arbatska Strila. “In the last 24 hours Russian unmanned aircrafts violated the Ukrainian state border 5 times in the border regions near the localities of Krasna Talivka, Milove, in Kherson oblast and near Berdiansk,” added the NSDC spokesman.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko held phone consultations with the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. John Kerry approved of Petro Poroshenko’s initiative to organize an international humanitarian mission in Ukraine for Luhansk citizens. The U.S. Secretary of State praised President Poroshenko’s actions on Friday, August 8, thanks to which Ukraine was able to achieve adherence to international law and legitimate procedures in the issue of delivering humanitarian aid. “Petro Poroshenko thanked the U.S. for their support and also informed John Kerry about his invitation issued to Red Cross representative to coordinate all issues of organizing humanitarian aid,” added Lysenko.
In response to Russia’s backhanded attempts to invade Ukrainian territory under the guise of peace corps deployment, foreign states expressed their consolidated position, condemning the actions of the Russian Federation. The head of the German MFA Frank-Walter Steinmeier emphasized that the humanitarian mission in the southeast of Ukraine can only be carried out with Kyiv’s approval and under governance of independent and experienced international organizations, particularly such as the International Red Cross committee. “This position is also the position of the Lithuanian MFA head Linas Linkevičius, who expressed his dissent with Moscow’s rhetoric on the attempt of deploying so-called ‘peacekeeping contingents’ on Ukrainian territory. He emphasized that to solve the humanitarian issue for the Donbas population, it is necessary to use international mechanisms exclusively,” noted Andriy Lysenko at the briefing.
