This week, fighting continued to rage all across the front lines. Russia continued to strike Ukrainian cities and towns far behind the front lines with missiles and drones. A series of attacks, including with glide bombs, hit Kharkiv. A Russian drone struck a foster family home in the region of Dnipro, injuring three children. Late in the week, Russia launched a swarm of drones into Ukraine, targeting southern and central areas for two nights in a row. In one of the attacks, debris from Russian drones landed in a rural area of Romania. Russia has completely destroyed 214 medical facilities since the invasion and damaged 1,642 others, according to Ukrainian Health Ministry statistics released this week.
Ukraine continues to strike back, reaching targets deep inside Russia. On Monday, Ukrainian drones attacked the Morozovsk military airfield in the Rostov region and the Tuapse oil refinery in the Krasnodar region. Ukrainian troops shot down a Russian Su-25 jet in the Pokrovsk section of the front line, the second one in a month.
Ukraine has a realistic plan to get back Crimea, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi told the Guardian in his first interview with a foreign newspaper as overall military chief. The EU has moved one step closer to approving the first 4.2 euro instalment under the Ukraine Facility plan. The Czech Defense Ministry prepares to launch the second round of the initiative to supply Ukraine with artillery shells in 2025. The Netherlands and Denmark will send 14 more refitted Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine this summer.
Blasts rock Russian airbase in occupied Crimea
A series of explosions rocked the Saky airfield in Crimea overnight on Friday. The blasts were audible in the nearby village of Novofedorivka, near Okunivka and in Simferopol. Eyewitnesses described seeing a fire at the Saky airfield and hearing explosions, reportedly ammunition blasts. A drone attack alert was also declared in Sevastopol.
