On July 3, Belarus celebrates Independence Day. However, this was not always the case in the recent history of this country. Until 1997, Independence Day was celebrated on July 27– the date when the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the Belarusian SSR was adopted in 1990. The life of Belarus, its domestic and foreign policy is still full of contradictions today. They deepened after the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and intensified with the crisis of the Russian political system caused by the so-called Justice March of the Wagner PMC. How stable does Alexander Lukashenko’s government look today? Will the movement of Prigozhin’s fighters to Belarus increase the danger for Ukraine in the northern direction?
