The Russian occupiers used banned cluster munitions in the Dnipropetrovsk region

On March 27, 2022, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, ignoring the norms of international humanitarian law, carried out a prohibited rocket-assisted projectile shelling of one of the settlements of the Kryvyi Rih district in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Occupiers used the multiple rocket launcher 9A52-4 Tornado. 

This was reported by the Prosecutor General’s Office.

During the inspection of the place of shelling by law enforcement officers and employees of the explosives service, fragments of the missile were found and removed.

The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office provides procedural guidance in criminal proceedings on the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). 

Information on the affected people and damaged infrastructure is being clarified. There are no military facilities in the area. 

These actions of the Russian Federation pose a direct threat to the life and health of the civilian population, contradict the norms of international humanitarian law, namely the Convention on the Prohibition of Cluster Munitions.
