Romanian far-right populist Calin Georgescu has been disqualified from participating in the May presidential election rerun by the country’s Central Electoral Bureau.
In December, Romania’s constitutional court nullified the first round of voting—where he secured first place—after intelligence reports revealed Russian involvement in 800 TikTok accounts supporting him.
The bureau cited “procedural issues” as the reason for rejecting his candidacy, without providing further details.
