Russia caused more than $35 billion of damage to Ukraine’s environment

Russia caused $35.3 billion of damage to Ukraine’s environment. This was stated by Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Ecology, at the hearings in the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

According to the minister, about 20% of reserve areas in Ukraine are under threat of destruction. About 2,000 cases of damage to the environment have already been recorded.

According to Ukraine’s calculations, more than $11 billion are needed to eliminate the damage caused to the soils.
