Threats, Lies, and War Crimes

This year’s annual “Direct Line” by Vladimir Putin was once again a blatant disinformation and intimidation show. This “event” is held for Putin to officially address his people and deliver some propaganda in person. This time, he outdid himself by explaining a war his country started with a desire for “hustle and bustle” and offering to use Kyiv as testing grounds for a new Russian missile.

By publicly making statements like that, Putin shows blatant disregard for any international law or moral code. Moreover, it proves once again that Putin is not ready for peace talks or negotiations. The reality is the opposite – he is trying to prolong the war by rallying Russians with lies about their country’s alleged military success and invincibility. This strategy is yet another attempt to save his regime in the face of Russia’s social, military, and economic issues.
