A large-scale war against Ukraine does not prevent Russia from conducting an information war throughout Europe. This includes spreading propaganda, fakes, and fears about Ukrainian refugees, rising fuel prices, and the demonic West which is “pumping Ukraine with weapons” to “weaken Russia” and “increase poverty and famine” in the world.
Bulgaria is a country where the Kremlin propaganda is very active, being disseminated through Russia-sponsored journalists and analysts, bots, trolls, and networks of fake accounts.
Such actions are aimed to make the support of Ukraine unpopular and shift the blame for Russian military aggression, a refugee crisis, and rising prices for food and fuel to Ukraine.
This is another proof that the Russian information war has no borders and Russia is interested in promoting propaganda in different European countries to undermine weapon supplies, discredit Ukraine and its international allies, and convince the governments not to become “involved in the war” as well as not to support anti-Russian sanctions.
