After over half a year of a large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia continues its nuclear blackmail and the civilized world builds up strength to resist it. On September 1, the IAEA mission arrived at the Zaporizhzhia NPP in the occupied city of Enerhodar to inspect the security measures.
According to the official IAEA statement, the plant is under constant shelling, but the information about who initiates the shelling is omitted. Due to Russian pressure, the IAEA inspectors did not talk to the ZNPP employees face-to-face.
All conversations were held in the presence of the occupiers, who were repeatedly accused of torturing the station’s employees. Despite Ukraine’s regular requirements to demilitarize the NPP and avoid the global nuclear disaster, Russian troops continue the tactics of terror and intimidation.
Speakers:
- Olha Kosharna, expert on nuclear energy and nuclear safety
- Volodymyr Omelchenko, director of energy and infrastructure programs of the Razumkov Cente
- Victoria Voytsitska, secretary of the Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on fuel and energy complex, nuclear policy and nuclear safety
