Russia’s large-scale war against Ukraine caused many challenges for the Ukrainian sports sphere. Many athletes are either fighting on the frontline or dedicated themself to volunteer work for the army.
The situation with coaches is identical. Due to current missile attacks and active military actions, many athletes and sport teams are have no premises and ability to train. However, some Ukrainian athletes manage to keep up their careers even in the extreme conditions of war, participate world competitions and championships and even bring victories.
Now, Ukrainian sport is of strategic importance since the presence of Ukrainian athletes on the international events is also an important reason to remind the global community of Russian aggression and the support of Ukraine.
UKRAINE IN FLAMES project is created by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and NGO “Euroatlantic Course”. We are aiming at searching a loud support for Ukraine in the war started by Russia on the 24th of February 2022.
