Russia’s large-scale invasion has affected all spheres of life in Ukraine, including education. Deliberate aggressor’s attacks against Ukrainian educational institutions prove that Russia is aimed to deprive Ukraine of academia and intellectual life.
Some Ukrainian universities were physically destroyed or seriously damaged and, as a result, were forced to relocate. Another switched to online don’t of studying. The war changed everything, so now many professors and students ended up defending our country on the frontline and this creates additional problems for the whole sphere.
However, despite all the challenges the Ukrainian educational system faces, it adapts to life in a new extreme reality. Students organize competitions between different universities during the fundraising campaigns for the army, and professors lecture right from the trenches – and this proves that the Ukrainian spirit is unbreakable – and the victory will be ours!
UKRAINE IN FLAMES project is created by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and NGO “Euroatlantic Course”. We are aiming at searching a loud support for Ukraine in the war started by Russia on the 24th of February 2022.
