Russia’s invasion of Ukraine kills not only people but also the nature. Besides the increasing amounts of waste, military operations fill the air nad groundwater with toxins, threatens biodiversity nad climate stability.
As drifting sea mines, and sinking of warships poison the marine environment, debris from the missiles and other military equipment harm the soil. Russian aggression affects not only the health of Ukraine’s population but also the health of the entire ecosystem.
The impacts of the war will be felt dozens of years after Ukraine’s victory since the ecological cost of the war is extremely high — and Russia deliberately uses ecocide as another instrument of war.
UKRAINE IN FLAMES project is created by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and NGO “Euroatlantic Course”. We are aiming at searching a loud support for Ukraine in the war started by Russia on the 24th of February 2022.
