Ecocide: how russia is ruining Ukrainian soils and lands

For already a year of a large-scale war, Russia has been destroying not only Ukrainian cultural heritage but also nature. Nature is another victim of Russian aggression — and this damage cannot be paid.

The soils suffered a lot of damage, especially on the terrotory affected and contaminated by the war. Both zones where the soil has suffered direct mechanical damage, and in the pollution zone pose danger for both naturę and humans.

Artillery and missile strikes, contamination with chemicals, especially heavy metals — these factors are constantly threatening Ukrainian soils. Russia is waging a brutal war against Ukraine at all levels — and a natural one as well — but Ukrainian resistance is only growing, so the victory will be ours.

UKRAINE IN FLAMES project is created by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and NGO “Euroatlantic Course”. We are aiming at searching a loud support for Ukraine in the war started by Russia on the 24th of February 2022.
