Why some European countries want to impose ban on Ukrainian grain?

Due to the Russian blockade of Black Sea ship transportation, transit routes through Eastern Europe are crucial for Ukrainian export. The temporary ban on the import of Ukrainian grain introduced by several European countries, including Poland, became a rather harmful decision for Ukraine.

Among the official reasons for blocking the import of Ukrainian grain, there is, in particular, the decline in prices in the domestic markets. This issue provoked the protests of the local farmers, for example, in Poland.

The decision concerns neighboring countries and partners of Ukraine, such as Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. While the reasons for the ban are rather political than economic, now Ukraine will face extra challenges, in particular, related to financing the Armed Forces.
