Impact on Ukrainian grain trade after Russia exits grain deal

Russia’s aggressive war in Ukraine seriously threatens global food security, especially in the context of Russia’s unilateral withdrawal from the Grain Agreement. The war is disrupting agricultural production, displacing farmers and damaging critical infrastructure, undermining Ukraine’s ability to sustain agricultural production.

This disrupts the international food supply chain, leading to potential shortages and price spikes. In addition, the geopolitical consequences of conflict can lead to reduced cooperation between nations, hindering collective efforts to address global food challenges and increasing the vulnerability of food systems to shocks.

In essence, Ukraine’s agricultural prowess is the linchpin of global food stability, while Russia’s activities threaten to disrupt that stability, underscoring the importance of international cooperation to protect Ukraine’s agricultural productivity and global food security.
