Last year’s systematic destruction of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by Russia Human Rights Watch was recognized as an activity with signs of crimes against humanity. Following significant damage to its energy infrastructure due to Russian terrorist strikes last winter, Ukraine has been repairing and hardening its power systems.
Despite financial constraints, the government focuses on repair and maintenance efforts. Adaptation of the energy system to work under challenging conditions of overloading the system and waiting for potential attacks plays a very important role in the field of maintaining the vital activity of the state in general.
Ukraine is taking several measures to prepare for the winter regarding energy security. Therefore, it is difficult to assess how the previously inflicted damage to the energy industry will affect the passage of this heating season, but Ukrainian energy companies are preparing for all possible scenarios.
