The Unchanging Weaponization of Hunger by the Kremlin

Hunger is a powerful weapon, and the Kremlin’s methods of using it as a tool of control have remained consistent over the past century. The Kremlin has repeatedly employed tactics such as food scarcity, rationing, and hoarding to exert control of politics.

By manipulating food availability, the government can subdue dissent and ensure obedience from its citizens. This strategy has been employed in various forms, from the Stalin-era forced collectivization and famine in Ukraine to the more recent blockade of Ukrainian ports and the shellings of grain infrastructure.

Despite the passage of time, the Kremlin continues exploiting hunger to maintain its grip on power. This tactic of control and influence is one of the most immoral and genocidal from all of the Russian arsenal.
