Victims of the Russian war after 10 months of 2022

More than 16,000 people have died as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in the first 10 months of 2022.

According to the National Police, the highest number of deaths was recorded in Donetsk, Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions from February 24, 2022 to January 3, 2023. In particular, 16,502 people died:

  • 4746 in Donetsk region;
  • 3784 in Kharkiv region;
  • 2207 in Mykolaiv region;
  • 2072 in Kyiv region;
  • 899 in Chernihiv region;
  • 815 in Luhansk region;
  • 686 in Kherson region;
  • 341 in Sumy region;
  • 283 in Zhytomyr region;
  • 66 in Zaporizhzhia region.

21 mass graves were found in the liberated territories, including three in Donetsk region (278 civilians and 37 AFU servicemen exhumed), 14 in Kyiv region (177 people exhumed), two in Kharkiv region (451 civilians and 44 AFU servicemen exhumed), and two in Kherson region (46 people exhumed).

Law enforcement officers found 54 torture chambers in the liberated territories of Ukraine.
