Kyiv, June 13, 2014 – “Kyiv offers very attractive opportunities for investments. Our task is to ensure favorable business climate. I am inviting all to invest in Kyiv and will personally keep under control every dollar of invested funds,” – stated Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko during his briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center. “The key challenge is to develop transparent, clear and predictable rules and conditions for every investor to enable them to profit and create new jobs”- he added.
Reporting on his first steps as a Mayor, Vitali Klitschko informed about the Session of the Kyiv City Council, during which deputies received their mandates and began the process of forming factions. They have established a new procedure for the election of the community representatives in municipal enterprises. At the same time they dismissed all the representatives appointed by former team of Leonid Chernovetskiy and Alexander Popov. ”In the past members were appointed by the Administration, citizens were unable to influence their performances. Now it will become public after discussions in the plenary meeting of the Kyiv City Council”, – explained Mr. Klitschko.
At the same time, the Special Commission will be set up to check all the questionable decisions made earlier by the City Council since 2006 to win back the people of Kiyv their illegally taken assets “, – he added. At the next City Council session scheduled for Thursday, June 19, deputies will elect a Council Secretary and will form the City Council factions. At the next Monday meeting of the board of the Kyiv City State Administration, the report on the current state of the city economic matters will be provided.
According to Vitali Klitschko, in order to secure smooth operational activities of the local government it is essential to assign responsible persons, first of all, the Chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration, as well as to repair the premises of the City Hall. “I appreciate the representatives of Maydan for releasing the City Hall building. Today we do our best to ensure that all those who work in the Kyiv City State Administration, return to their duties. This, in turn, will provide an effective and well-coordinated work of all our units.”
One of the initiatives of Mr. Klitschko as the Mayor will be the return of the law, which provides that one hundred percent of the funds collected as tax on personal income, remains in the Kyiv city budget, as it exists in other cities of Ukraine.
Kyiv Mayor pointed urgent issues of the illegal and irregular installation of MAFs (Kiosks) and illegal trade nearby the city markets. “Yesterday I visited several districts and ordered to abolish the illicit trade. I believe that everyone conducting trade activities must do so in designated areas and places obtaining all the appropriate permits and approvals – said Mr. Klitschko. Kiosks located at the exit of the subway in a way of blocking them, represent a great danger. In addition, they do not pay a penny to the city budget. We must change this. I plan to visit all the districts of Kyiv and will personally control the implementation of the ordinances. We have to do everything possible for the city development, so the capital becomes even more beautiful and comfortable for the residents and guests”.
