After Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Zakarpattia, the westernmost region of the country, become one of the biggest humanitarian and volunteer hubs. Having sheltered internally displaced persons from southern and eastern regions, the region is rife with initiatives aimed to help both the military and civilians.
The project “Nadiya” (Ukrainian for “hope”) offers help with accommodation and rehabilitation of internally displaced persons who were forced to flee their homes and came to Zakarpattia where the situation is relatively safer.
The project’s mission is to help IDPs to find long-term accommodation, jobs, and economic integration and, as a result, become self-reliant. And, what is equally important, it brings hope back to people, proving they can rebuild their lives, which is another victory over Russian aggression.
