The dynamic geopolitical and military situation in the European and Middle Eastern regions is mainly characterized by tension between the Russian Federation and NATO. The main reason for this is the expansionist war launched by Russia against Ukraine and the formation of an alliance of autocracies between the Russian Federation, Iran, China and North Korea.
In addition to the information plane, where the Kremlin invests a lot of resources, Moscow is trying to escalate tensions through provocative actions on NATO’s borders. Military exercises, the fight against terrorism and operations against the Yemeni Houthis are only symptoms of the growing tension between the major geopolitical players.
However, the future largely depends on the war’s outcome in Ukraine, and Ukraine’s victory is significant for lasting peace in Europe. Ultimately, this will affect world tensions because the loss of Russia will deter authoritarian regimes worldwide from encroaching on foreign territories.
UKRAINE IN FLAMES project is created by Ukraine Crisis Media Center and NGO “Euroatlantic Course”. We are aiming at searching a loud support for Ukraine in the war started by Russia on the 24th of February 2022.
