Kyiv, 2 February 2015 – The night in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone was not calm, Russian-and-terrorist troops did not stop firing at the ATO forces positions and localities. “Anti-terrorist operation servicemen are firmly holding their positions each time inflicting considerable losses on terrorists. As per preliminary data on 1 February the enemy lost 180 militants killed and 248 wounded. Additionally terrorists lost four cannons,” said Leonyd Matyukhin, ATO spokesman via Skype at a briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Militants shelled with artillery Debaltseve, Nikishyne, Chornukhyne and three times Zolote.
Near Leninske locality militants tried to storm the ATO forces positions but stepped back under fire opened by Ukrainian military. “Criminals shelled Debaltseve another time with BM-21 Grad. From 21.00 to 21.30 in Yunokomunarivsk area an enemy’s sniper operated,” added Leonyd Matykhin.
At the Donetsk direction militants shelled with artillery three times Vodyane locality, twice Tonenke as well as Opytne, Verkhnyotoretske and Novomykhaylivka. Apart from that militants shelled the localities having directed fire at Pisky and Vodyane. “At the Luhansk direction criminals shelled with Grad four times Shchastia and Vilkhova, fired at Stanytsia Luhanska, Stary Aidar, Sokilnyky and three times at Tryokhizbenka using other types of weapons. Criminals deployed tank at Stanytsia Luhanska,” noted ATO spokesman. In Mariupol area yesterday after 16.30 it was relatively quiet. Militants violated silence only from 3am to 4am having fired from small arms and grenade launchers at Chermalyk. According to Vladyslav Seleznyov, acting spokesman for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the last day illegal armed groups fired 104 times at the ATO forces. “We lost 5 Ukrainian servicemen over the last day, 29 got wounded,” added Vladyslav Seleznyov.
