Ukraine hits air base in Russia’s Kursk region with U.S.-supplied ATACMS missiles
Ukraine struck the Khalino air base in Russia’s Kursk region with ATACMS missiles overnight into Monday, Ukrainian GEOINT project Kiberboroshno said, sharing geolocated photos of the site.
Kursk regional governor, Aleksei Smirnov, said seven Ukrainian missiles and seven drones were destroyed overnight over the region.
Khalino, situated seven kilometers east of Kursk, is home to the Russian air force’s 14th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 105th Guards Composite Aviation Division, equipped with Su-30SM fighter-bombers.
The strike appears to have hit some parts of the S-400 air defense system stationed at the airfield. Some military analysts assumed that Ukraine hit Khalino with cluster ATACMS missiles.
The Ukrainian General Staff corroborated that the Main Intelligence Department of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and other branches of the Ukrainian military had struck a key oil depot in the Kaluga region, and targets in the Bryansk and Kursk regions. Other reports said the strike also hit the Typhoon factory in the Kaluga region that produces parts for coastal defense missiles systems.

Discussions over sending Western troops to Ukraine revive in Europe, according to Le Monde
As the conflict in Ukraine enters a new phase of escalation, discussions over sending Western troops and private defense companies to Ukraine have been revived, Le Monde has learned from corroborating sources.
These are sensitive discussions, most of which are classified – relaunched in light of a potential American withdrawal of support for Kyiv once Donald Trump takes office on January 20, 2025.
The debate about sending troops to Ukraine was relaunched in recent weeks thanks to the visit to France of the UK prime minister, Keir Starmer, for the November 11th commemorations.
“Discussions are underway between the UK and France on defense cooperation, particularly with a view to creating a hard core of allies in Europe, focused on Ukraine and wider European security,” confided a British military source to Le Monde.
Europe should consider sending troops to help defend Ukraine if Russian forces break through their defense lines, President Macron said earlier this year.
In an interview with Ukrainian journalists in March, Macron said Europe’s aim is to make sure that Russia doesn’t win the war. He added that the allies were seeking a lasting peace Ukraine needs to uphold its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security.
