Russia-backed militants violated the ceasefire six times in eastern Ukraine yesterday. All of these were direct fire attacks, one involved mortars and mounted weapons of infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). Ukrainian servicemen returned fire two times, reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
In Luhansk sector, militants committed four ceasefire violations. Two short provocations involving grenade launchers took place near Troitske in the morning and near Luhanske in the afternoon. In Hladosove, militants delivered a 40-minute grenade launcher attack. Moreover, Russian proxies attacked Ukrainian positions near Novoluhanske with 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, the attack continued for 90 minutes. “They fired a total of 16 mortar rounds. In addition, militants used IFV mounted weapons,” noted Col. Hutuslyak.
In Donetsk sector, militants attacked Ukrainian positions twice, namely near Kamianka and Avdiivka, using heavy machine guns and small arms, including sniper rifles. Both attacks took place in the morning.
Unfortunately, two Ukrainian servicemen were wounded in action near Kamianka and Avdiivka.
