In Donetsk sector of the ATO zone, the situation was the most restless in Avdiivka. Hostile attacks started around 01:00 and continued till late night. In total, 12 attacks were recorded in Avdiivka yesterday, and five of them involved mortars. Militants fired over 30 mortar rounds, shooting from four different directions simultaneously. “Moreover, hostilities took place in Luhanske, Verkhniotoretske, and Kamianka. The enemy used mortars twice and armor twice as well there. In general, in Donetsk sector Ukrainian troops had to return fire in 10 incidents yesterday,” informed Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
In Luhansk sector, Russia-backed militants conducted two attacks at Krymske and Zolote between 20:00 and 22:00. “No heavy weapons were used. Ukrainian troops were compelled to respond with fire,” said Col. Motuzyanyk.
In Mariupol sector, militants violated the ceasefire 10 times. They used mortars in Krasnohorivka, Maryinka and Vodiane, firing over 35 rounds. “Moreover, the enemy shelled Maryinka’s residential quarter around 16:00. Luckily, there were no civilian casualties. The enemy traditionally used heavy weapons during the night,” elaborated the spokesman. Moreover, militants violated the ceasefire in Novotroitske, Talakivka, Hnutove, and Shyrokyne. Ukrainian troops responded with fire, using the armor not proscribed by Minsk agreements, said the spokesman.
No Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action yesterday, but eight were wounded.
