Over the last day, Russia-backed militants kept actively violating the ceasefire in the combat zone in eastern Ukraine. They delivered a total of 32 attacks on Ukrainian troops’ positions, 30 of these were precision attacks. “Ukrainian troops returned fire 13 times using small arms,” reported Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman Colonel Dmytro Hutsulyak at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
In Donetsk sector, Russian proxies made 27 attacks, 25 of which were precision ones. Militants used various grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms, as well as IFV mounted weapons. “Ukrainian troops recorded hostile activity in Avdiivka, Opytne, Pavlopil, Novotroitske, Lebedynske, Starohnativka, Kamianka, Talakivka, Mariinka, Hnutove, Shyrokyne, Pisky, Shakhta Butovka, and Vodiane areas. Hostile sniper fire was also recorded near Novotroitske and Starohnativka,” elaborated Colonel Hutsulyak.
In Luhansk sector, Russia-backed militants committed five ceasefire violations. After 10:00, militants fired four 82-mm mortar rounds in Novoluhanske area. They later made three more attacks in Luhanske area using grenade launchers, heavy machine guns and IFV mounted weapons. Near Zaitseve, militants attacked Ukrainian troops’ positions with machine guns and small arms.
Fortunately, Ukrainian troops incurred no casualties yesterday.
