Kyiv, 18 December 2014 – Within the last 24 hours terrorists made 13 armed provocations against Ukrainian servicemen including three at night. There are no killed or wounded in action within the last day. “Terrorists and Russian military amass manpower and equipment on the territory of Novoazovsk and Yasynuvata districts of the Donetsk region. On the occupied territories Russian curators keep subordinating militants to the unified command center,” informed Colonel Andriy Lysenko, Spokesman of the anti-terrorist operation at a briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
Re-armament of the Ukrainian army is underway – “Ukrinmash” state enterprise, part of “Ukroboronprom” group of companies signed a contract with another US company Defense Technology Inc for supply of latest AN/TPQ-49 counterfire radars. “These systems effectively detect the enemy’s artillery and can immediately locate the spot where the fire from missile or artillery systems comes from. Its maximum detection range is up to 10 km, point of origin accuracy 75 meters at 5 kilometers, it will reinforce the artillery support of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) forces. It is expected that the Ukrainian army will receive the AN/TPQ-49 counterfire radars in the nearest time,” explained Colonel Lysenko.
