Kyiv, 30 January 2015 – “The situation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone remains tense but controlled. In the Debaltseve direction terrorists fired twice with mortars at Chornukhyne, four times at Debaltseve and Popasna. They shelled Debaltseve with Grad multiple rocket launchers five times,” said Leonyd Matyukhin, ATO HQ spokesman via Skype at a briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center.
From the Luhansk direction militants fired with artillery, mortars, anti-tanks guided missiles at Krymske, Shchastia, Vilkhove. “Criminals shelled Shchastia with BM-21 Grad missiles,” added Leonyd Matyukhin. From the Donetsk direction the enemy’s artillery was shelling Ukrainian positions in the area of Taramchuk, Pisky, Mykolayivka and Novotroyitske (Donetsk region). Additionally militants were firing at peaceful localities: shelled Pisky with multiple rocket launchers, fired with mortars and small arms at Pavlopil and twice at Chermalyk.
In the last day, militants have fired at ATO forces 87 times. . “Over the last day we lost 5 Ukrainian servicemen, 23 were wounded,” noted Vladyslav Seleznyov, the acting spokesman for the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the briefing.
