Kyiv, March 18, 2015. Ukrainian servicemen will be paid 12.7 million hryvnias for participating in combat operations within the month, according to the instructions issued by the Ukrainian government and the Ministry of Defence. Vladyslav Seleznyov, spokesman of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, made this announcement during the press-briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center, while talking about the new regulations on financial awards for the militarymen who took part in combat operations and destroyed the enemy’s military equipment. “The military leadership received that confirm that our soldiers destroyed 29 tanks and seized one tank, as well reports about successful accomplishment of 100 combat missions,” Seleznyov said.
“Servicemen of the 128th Brigade have been awarded with 85,200 hryvnias for destroying two armored vehicles of the enemy,” says Seleznyov. Currently, the military leadership is processing seven applications for financial rewards worth 1.5 million hryvnias. Thus the servicemen of the 30th and 128th Mechanized Brigades are going to get awards for their successful military activities; 45 soldiers of the 55th artillery brigade will get award payments as well.
Vladyslav Seleznyov has also announced changes in the awards’ payment system. Ukrainian servicemen spending will get 100% of his monthly pay (not less than 3,000 hryvnias) for spending one month in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone. If he or she spends less than a month, the award payment will be proportionate to the number of days spent in the combat zone. “This will allow us to prevent the fraud schemes when a servicemen could spend just three days in the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone, and then claim his right for the minimum monthly pay,” Mr. Seleznyov concluded.
