ATO Staff spokesman: Militants attack Ukrainian positions by Novhorodske


Kyiv, April 3, 2014. Russia-backed militants have violated ceasefire 10 times in the period between 6 pm until midnight. “The militants fired at the Ukrainian military position near Novhorodske at 6:40 pm. Our forces clashed with pro-Russian insurgents for 50 minutes, starting from 8:05 pm. Ukrainian servicemen succeeded in holding their positions and fighting off the enemy forces,” said Anatoliy Stelmakh, ATO Staff spokesman, via Skype at a briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center.

He has also reported that the Ukrainian troops repelled a militant attack after a clash next to the Dutovka mine that lasted between 11:30 pm and 1:30 am. The enemy also instigated armed provocations against Ukrainian forces using small arms and grenade launchers along the contact line, particularly in the areas of Shyrokyne, Avdiivka, Hranitne, Opytne and Maryinka in the Donetsk region.
