As of the morning of May 16, 2022, more than 650 children suffered in Ukraine as a result of full-scale armed aggression by the Russian Federation – according to official data from juvenile prosecutors, 229 children were killed and more than 421 received injuries of varying severity.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
Children suffered the most in Donetsk region – 140, Kyiv region – 116, Kharkiv region – 100, Chernihiv region – 68, Kherson region – 48, Luhansk region – 45, Mykolaiv region – 44, Zaporizhzhia region – 28, Sumy region – 17, Kyiv city – 16, Zhytomyr region – 15.
These data are not conclusive, as inspection of sites of active hostilities and liberated settlements and receiving information on the temporarily occupied territories are underway.
- On May 14, a 15-year-old boy was wounded in an attack by the enemy in the village of Lebiazhe, Chuhuiv district, Kharkiv region.
- It became known that on March 8 as a result of an air strike by the troops of the Russian Federation on Mariupol a 15-year-old girl was lost. A 16-year-old boy died on March 18 due to shelling of the city by the occupiers.
As a result of the constant bombing and shelling of Ukrainian towns and villages by the Russian armed forces, 1,748 educational institutions were damaged, 144 of them were completely destroyed.
