ATO Staff: Temporary armistice in the ATO zone allows to deliver humanitarian aid and conduct renewal works

Kyiv, October 27, 2015. No violations of the Minsk Accords took place in the ATO zone on October 23. This provided a possibility to renew Donbas infrastructure. “Roofing works continued at school in Myronivske with support of civil-military cooperation troops and engineers. Civil-military cooperation group delivered targeted aid in the form of warm clothes and food to Berdianske, Lebedynske and Hranitne. They also delivered coal there,” said ATO Staff spokesperson Captain Leonid Matyukhin via Skype at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. According to Captain Matyukhin, volunteers delivered warm clothes and food packages to troops located in Popasna and Troyitske. The inhabitants of Artemovo also received warm clothes.

ATO Staff spokesperson emphasized that the night of October 25 was difficult. “Starting at 2:30 a.m., militants were shooting at our positions from small arms, large machine guns, anti-aircraft mounts and various grenade launchers,” said Matyukhin. There were no attacks in the ATO zone on the next day which made it possible for the Ukrainian troops registered not far from the place of their service to vote at the local elections. Nevertheless, militants attacked Ukrainian positions near Opytne and Pisky on October 26, shooting from Donetsk airport outskirts.

Military engineers continued clearing Vuhlehirska thermal power station of mines. “Local power lines repair teams have already gained access to the cleared areas. Moreover, 2.5 km of gas pipeline between Maryinka and Krasnohorivka were repaired,” said the spokesperson.
