ATO Staff: Militants’ fire is the densest in Donetsk and Artemivsk sectors

Kyiv, December 1, 2015. In the past four days militants’ fire was the most frequent in Donetsk and Artemivsk sectors in the ATO zone, said ATO Staff spokesperson, Captain Leonid Matyukhin at a press briefing via Skype at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. According to Matyukhin, an 82-mm mortar launcher was used in Krasnohorivka and in the vicinity of Mariinka. Russia-backed militants also attacked Krashonorivka using APC weapons and small arms. “Militants were shooting towards Verkhniotoretske, Avdiivka, Pisky, Artemove, Maiorsk, Kodema and Starohnativka from 82-mm mortar launchers, grenade launchers, large machine guns and small arms. They also used small arms and automatic grenade launchers to attack the vicinity of Opytne and Krasnohorivka,” said the spokesperson.

According to Captain Matiukhin, Russia-backed militants groups assaulted Zaitseve, Luhanske and Mayorsk in Artemivsk sector using anti-tank grenade launchers, large machine guns and small arms. “They attacked Leninske and Troitske from large machine guns and light arms, and a sniper was shooting at Mayorsk,” informed the spokesman. He also said that militants used grenade launchers in the Luhansk sector to shoot at Triokhizbenka. Pro-Russian militants delivered precision fire on Ukrainian positions near Novotroitske in the Mariupol sector and used light arms in Shyrokyne. Captain Matyukhin added that military engineers cleared Rodina coal mines near Zolote inhabited locality.
