In Mariupol sector, Russia-backed troops shelled Maryinka residential quarters with grenade launchers and mortars yet again. “A mortar round hit walls and damaged the roof of a building,” informed Ukrainian Ministry of Defense spokesman on ATO Colonel Oleksandr Motuzyanyk at a press briefing at Ukraine Crisis Media Center. Moreover, the situation was traditionally restless in Chermalyk – Shyrokyne frontline. “Yesterday the enemy used mortars twice in Chermalyk in the morning,” added Col. Motuzyanyk. In Vodiane and Shyrokyne militants’ activity came down to lengthy small arms provocations.
“Avdiivka was the main flashpoint in Donetsk sector yesterday,” informed the spokesman. Militants attacked after 14:00, and Ukrainian troops returned fire. “Hostilities continued over nine hours with brief pauses. Militants used mortars several times, shooting from multiple directions at once,” added Col. Motuzyanyk. Moreover, Russian proxies sporadically violated the ceasefire in four other localities. “All these incidents were rather lengthy,” said the spokesman. In total, 11 hostile attacks took place in Donetsk sector yesterday, three of them involved heavy weapons.
“In Luhansk sector, hostilities continued near Bakhmut road and in Popasna district,” elaborated Col. Motuzyanyk. Militants were active in the afternoon, moreover, the attacks escalated in the evening. Militants used mortars three times and fired 16 rounds. “Ukrainian troops actively responded with fire in five different positions,” added the spokesman.
No Ukrainian serviceman was killed in action, but three troops were wounded.
